AI-Backed Food Innovations

Hormel Foods Has Plans to Introduce Products Developed by AI

Hormel Foods has announced that it will be focusing on integrating artificial intelligence technology into its product development moving forward. The company has set its sights on ingredient experimentation, harnessing the power of AI to create products with things like ghost peppers and Calabrian chiles. Hormel plans to use big data and social listening to tap into its audience's preferences and flavor desires, while also relying on a cultural anthropologist to research the in-store and online shopping mediums.

“Consumer food preferences often change alongside their values and practical needs,” says Lisa Selk, SVP of Hormel's Brand Fuel. “Staying close to those insights helps us respond in meaningful ways.”

Hormel also has a Culinary Collective of chefs which test out its early R&D prototypes to ensure consumer satisfaction.
