Hellmann's AI Tool Generates Recipes Based on Fridge Contents

Hellmann’s has unveiled an innovative tool called 'Meal Reveal,' designed to assist households in making the most of the ingredients they already have in their kitchens. This AI-driven tool was developed in collaboration with Google Cloud.

Meal Reveal leverages advanced artificial intelligence to tackle the issue of "fridge blindness"—a common pitfall where individuals have a fridge full of ingredients but struggle to envision how to use them to create meals. This problem often results in food going to waste, as people are unsure what to cook or how to use their ingredients best.

To use Meal Reveal, simply scan the contents of your fridge with your smartphone camera. You can capture a video or upload photos of the ingredients. The tool employs Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, which utilizes generative AI to analyze the scanned ingredients. It then matches these ingredients with various recipe suggestions tailored to your available items.
