British designer Tom Hunt is attempting to breathe life into landlines with his Home Phone Concept. The aptly named device is designed to keep busy family members connected. The Home Phone Concept keeps family members connected via its text messaging capabilities. Family members can simply send a text to the Home Phone Concept and their message will appear on both the handsets and the main display for all to see.

In addition to its ability to receive text messages, the Home Phone Concept can also display low-tech messages written on its dry-erase board. The concept's display can also function as a sort of virtual phone book looking up numbers online. If the landline is ever to survive as a fixture in homes of the future, it will have to do so by adapting to the ever-changing needs of the modern family.
