Split-Level Plywood Desks

The Hollow Desk is a Two-Level Plywood Workstation

Hollow Desk is a two-level plywood workstation that separates monitor and input devices into distinct vertical zones. A cut-and-bend construction technique forms a raised rear platform for monitors and other eye-level equipment, while the front section curves downward into a lower working surface for keyboards, mice, notepads, and sketchbooks. The continuous plywood structure exposes its layered edges along the transition, making the construction method visible within the desk's profile. Vertical slots in the rear panel provide storage for pens, pencils, and cards, while a slim drawer with a recessed finger pull sits beneath the raised section.

Additional storage includes a headphone hook on the right side panel, a small book ledge, and a full-width lower shelf for secondary items. Cable pass-through holes in the raised platform route monitor connections away from the main working surface. The design was developed by SUNRIU Design as a concept rendered in plywood, with the raised platform accommodating existing monitors and computer hardware.
