The Federal Highway Administration has selected the Texas A&M Transportation Institute and Altitude by Geotab to investigate high-risk roadway segments and work to improve truck safety in the United States.

It is estimated that truck accidents accumulated 29,135 fatalities in the first nine months of 2024 and a total of 168, 320 truck-related crashes in 2022. This incredibly important project, which could save lives on the road, is leveraging the Texas A&M Transportation Institute's transportation research expertise and Geotab's "aggregated and anonymized commercial truck telematics data." The collected data will enable the institute to perform in-depth analysis of traffic data and help identify potential hazards and high-risk road segments. The gathered insights will have implications for transportation agencies, state departments, and industry partners.
