'Heroes and Heroins' Depicts the Superheroes in Most Lives

The first image that anyone will think of when the word superhero is muttered is probably a comic book character like Batman or Superman; however, Alejandro Maureira's 'Heroes and Heroins' photoshoot depicts the real heroes that are in many people's lives.
The concept of 'Heroes and Heroins' is to show that the concept of being a hero doesn't always necessarily translate to using superpowers for the greater good. Instead, Maureira's photo series focuses on parents as the crime-fighting vigilantes posing next to their kids. Considering how much most mothers and fathers do to protect and influence their children in a positive manner, it's a great interpretation. Whether it's Zorro or Peter Pan, the photo series demonstrates that sometimes the ability to lift cars and stop a robbery doesn't always define what a hero is.
