While it wouldn't have been impossible for the City of Budapest to source an 11-meter tall evergreen tree and cart it into a public plaza, they have instead decided to display this glorious Hello Wood Christmas Tree, executed as no easy feat either. The timber specialist studio took 365 new wooden sleighs (one for every day of the year) and stacked them into an enormous cone to represent the familiar Western symbol of Christmas.
There are no leaves, of course, yet the lumber skeleton is a natural sub-in for a beautiful branching monument. What people are uniquely afforded too is the possibility of walking inside. Look up into the pointed peak of the Hello Wood Christmas Tree to behold a complex trussed framework that looks like a striking star or a snowflake.
