The Helix Lamp illustrates the endless relationship between light and time. Using shafts of light to tell the time, this device boasts an aesthetic and modern design. The Helix Lamp uses helical (or offset) discs to project a channel of light onto its surface.
The device reinterprets the association between light and time. Rather than using conventional clock hands to tell the time, it harnesses the power of light to dictate the time of day. During the day, the channel of light appears as a shadow, similar to how sundials work. By nightfall, the Helix Lamp casts a light channel as a visual indicator of a clock hand. Designed by Josh Connor, the lamp clock features two rotating discs to display the hours and the minutes.
