A Netherlands-based innovator by the name of Jari Hazelebach has come up with a high-tech assistive hearing solution that is designed to make it easier for people with hearing impairments to hear what other people are saying to them.

The SpeakSee system uses Wi-Fi microphones which, when used by the people who are conversing, uses a high-tech directional system to only isolate and pick up speech sounds while drowning out background noises and distracting speech. The audio is sent to a docking station which processes the speech and relays it to a companion smartphone app, which converts the audio data into text so that the deaf user can read it.

With support for over 120 languages, not to mention features such as being able to save conversation transcripts, the SpeakSee system is a hearing solution that is looking to revolutionize communication for people with hearing impairments by using widely available technology.
