Felicia Has Brought Italy's Top Healthy Pasta Brand to Canadian Retail

— May 12, 2026 — Lifestyle
Felicia, Italy’s top-selling healthy pasta brand, launched in more than 800 Canadian retail locations, including Loblaw, Costco, Metro Ontario and Save-On-Foods, backed by a $55 million manufacturing facility in London, Ontario. The Felicia healthy pasta Canada rollout is centered around a 65,000-square-foot gluten-free production hub capable of producing up to 15,000 tonnes of pasta annually across both short- and long-cut lines.

The brand offers a lineup of pastas made from oat, buckwheat, red lentil, chickpea, spirulina, and green cauliflower. Its Organic Oat Penne also received the 2026 NEXTY Award for Best Gluten-Free Product at Natural Products Expo West. Felicia manages the entire supply chain, from ingredient sourcing through production.

Felicia shows how combining domestic Canadian manufacturing with Italian pasta expertise can position a health-focused pasta brand as a premium alternative rather than a compromise product.

Trend Themes

  1. Plant-based Pasta Diversification — The expansion of oat, legume, and vegetable-based pastas signals alternative-flour formulations reshaping pasta portfolios and consumer expectations around nutrition and texture.
  2. Localized Manufacturing-global Branding — Combining Italian brand heritage with a Canadian production hub highlights a model where local manufacturing capacity underpins rapid market entry and premium positioning.
  3. Ingredient-forward Health Positioning — Emphasizing single-source ingredients like buckwheat and spirulina reframes pasta as a functional food category focused on targeted health benefits.

Industry Implications

  1. Food Manufacturing — Large-scale gluten-free production lines and vertical supply control indicate opportunities for manufacturing systems tailored to specialty-ingredient throughput and traceability.
  2. Retail Grocery Chains — Widespread listing across major retailers suggests shelf-space strategies that favor premium health-forward SKUs and category segmentation for alternative pastas.
  3. Supply Chain and Sourcing — End-to-end ingredient management from sourcing to production exposes possibilities for optimized procurement networks and transparency tools for niche raw materials.
