Eco-Collapsible Cans

Handycan Aims to Make Recycling Easier and More Efficient

Emami Design is aiming to make recycling more efficient with the Handycan, a beverage can with a collapsible design.

The sheer volume of cans being shoved into recycling bins is alarming, but not surprising; after all, pickup trucks aren't around 24/7, so Emami Design came up with the Handycan as a solution. The packaging will allow the beverage to be easily compressed into a friendlier size. The reduced shape will help save space in public recycling bins and it will save transportation costs made to the recycling stations. Aside from the Handycan's ability to shrink down, the grooves on the can also bring better grip for the person handling it.

The Handycan was a winner of the Red Dot design concept award. Hopefully the recognition will put the product into mass production.
