Modular Handheld Gaming Systems

The 'feeel' Gaming System by Jasmin Kappler is Customizable

The conceptual 'feeel' handheld gaming system has been designed by Jasmin Kappler as part of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam student's BA thesis.

The device is characterized by its modular construction that focuses on a sensory experience for players and incorporates a haptic feedback system. This is centered around the three front buttons crafted out of wood, metal and fabric, which will respond according to the onscreen action. The modular construction of the system allows the screen to be detached for tabletop play, while the controls are all completely reconfigurable.

Kappler commented further on the conceptual 'feeel' handheld gaming system in her thesis intention saying, "The question arises how the sense of touch can be better addressed by the control system, so that players can more easily achieve an immersion. How can tactile perception be trained and improved through video games? The aim of this bachelor thesis is to answer these questions and to implement them in a concept for a handheld game console.”
