The Florida-based fast casual chain Gyroville recently debuted a new dish called the Gyro Philly, which offers an American take on a popular Greek dish. With a growing demand for exotic twists on classic comfort foods, the new wrap provides a whole new way for American consumers to enjoy Philadelphia's signature dish.
Gyroville's CEO Lambros Kokkinelis explains that the Gyro Philly came about during a brainstorming session that involved "imagining what a Mediterranean version of a Philly cheesesteak would look like." The result is a wrap that swaps the classic steak and hoagie combination for gryo meat and pita bread. The meat is then topped with grilled onions, roasted red peppers, melted cheddar cheese and feta tzatziki. The result is a hybrid dish that perfectly blends both American and Greek flavors.
