Digital Family Wallets

The Google Wallet Family Spending Feature Lets Parents Manage Money

Google has introduced a new Google Wallet family spending feature that enables parents in the US to create a supervised digital spending balance for children and teenagers. Managed through Family Link, the tool allows parents to add funds whenever needed while monitoring purchases through transaction histories and optional push notifications. Parents can also remotely pause spending or lock the account if a child's device is lost, providing additional oversight and security for everyday purchases.

The feature allows children to make payments with Android phones or Wear OS smartwatches anywhere Google Pay is accepted, without requiring them to open a personal bank account. Designed to encourage responsible money management, the supervised wallet gives parents greater visibility into spending while offering young users a convenient digital payment experience.
