It looks like Google Hangout chat was the place to be in the world of Wallace and Gromit this past Christmas.
If you’re unfamiliar with Wallace and Gromit, they are animated characters from a British television show of the same name. Created using molded plasticine modelling clay on metal figures, the characters are fun-loving friends who get into mischief together. Wallace is an inventor and Gromit is his unusually intelligent dog.
In this commercial, the audience sees Wallace, Gromit and their gang of friends get together on Google Hangout chat to open presents in front of each other for the holidays. The chat starts with two participants, but quickly spirals to half a dozen. This ad is meant to draw attention to the easy-to-use chat program now offered on Google’s social networking platform Google+.
