The atX design of the year award-winning project, 'The Glo-Cal Experience,' brings a modular design philosophy to sustainable tourism. The Glo-Cal Experience is a modular skyscraper that curates culture-themed experiences of various countries to offer tourists a taste of those global cultures from the comfort of their local host city. The skyscraper's modular construction allows it to be outfitted to suit the needs of the culture that it is representing at any given time.
To ease setup and teardown, The Glo-Cal Experience skyscrapers are made up of modules constructed with sturdy 3D printed graphene adjoined through a peg-and-hole securing system. The modular construction can be adapted for various functions, from high dining restaurants to budget-friendly hostels.
To remain true to the cultures The Glo-Cal Experience represents, the tourist destination invites locals from those cultures to set up shops to enhance the environment's authenticity. The Glo-Cal Experience also reduces tourists' carbon footprint by shortening travel time and distance while reinvigorating the domestic tourism industry.
