Walter Van Beirendonck's Spring/Summer 2018 collection was recently unveiled at Paris Fashion Week, stunning audiences with its selection of updated Glam Rock menswear. Celebrating David Bowie's iconic and effervescent style, the collection paired vivid pieces with mullet-inspired wigs.
In addition to a number of oversized coats and other sculptural outerwear, this collection spotlighted patterned tights and body suits, which mimicked retro on-stage costumes that would have been worn by androgynous rock legends. Fusing functional apparel with more vibrant, and daring Glam Rock menswear, this collection was inspiring to fans of Walter Van Beirendonck's whimsical aesthetic.
In addition to rock-and-roll references, the designer touched on retro Americana culture with subtle motocross, themes, along with cubic motifs which showcased his love of DIY themes.
