This gourmet and carnival style take on the recipe makes for a great dessert.
The recipe to make these French toast sticks defers ever so slightly from the original cult favorite. Fresh bread or brioche sliced into sticks and then dipped in a mixture of egg, milk and aromatic spices such as cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Rather than cooking the bread in a skillet over a stove top, the bread sticks are dropped into hot oil till crispy brown, then covered in a layer of icing sugar and served with fruit.
