Ford Engine Uses Ericsson Connectivity for Pilot EU
Ford Motor Company implements Ericsson 5G connectivity at its Ford Engine plant in Valencia, Spain. This initiative is part of the new European Commission and European ICT to push Industry 4.0 momentum. The plant has autonomous guided vehicles fleet management and smart AGV operation and virtual reality that are tested.
The pilot initiative is entitled 5G-INDUCE and is a part of the Horizon 2020 5G Infrastructure public and private partnership. It specifically drives the aforementioned Industry 4.0 vertical section. The plant currently employs approximately 900 workers and will deploy RAN by Ericsson. This stands for Radio Access Network along with Core solutions for the standalone 5G New Radio. This network helps enable experimentation and innovation from the initiative's partners.
