There is a reason why the Football Table looks more like a piece of art than a piece of furniture. It was created for the Art of Football exhibit. Commissioned by Nike and SHOWstudio, the Football Table takes on the form of a miniature football stadium. Instead of being tacky or perhaps even cartoonish, it is a sophisticated creation steeped in masculinity from the inspiration behind the design to the dark wood used to make it.
Created by Oscar & Ewan, a design studio based in London and Stockholm, the Football Table features the use of waterjet cutting. With each cut, the layers are lowered one at a time until the field is reached. To finish it off, a Anglepoise lamp was used to mimic stadium floodlighting.
