This Food Bowl Design Imagines a Sustainable Way to Eat Ramen

This ingenious food bowl design by Anna Glansén and Hanna Billqvist of Tomorrow Machine is a more sustainable solution to all of those instant food containers that only require you to add water. The 'Sustainable Expanding Bowl' is made out of a bio-based and biodegradable material, so that something like Ramen can be packaged in something responsible and even attractive, rather than wasteful.

When the binding wrapper is removed from the Expanding Bowl, users don't even need to try and unfold it themselves. Instead, all they have to do is pour hot water into the small hole atop the package and the bowl will get to work on its own, blossoming into a handy container that's easy to eat out of. You might think that this might create a soggy mess, but as the water cools, the temperature causes the container to harden into a solid form.
