Tire-Crafted Solar Stills

The Floating Solar Still is an Eco-Friendly Way to Purify Water

A team of researchers at the Dalhousie University in Canada has created a unique floating solar still that offers a new sustainable way to purify water safely. There have been various research projects that work to reach this goal and the solar still may be one of the most affordable.

The still from researchers is able to produce 15.5 cups of fresh water at a daily rate -- this is about 1.5 times the amount that one needs to consume daily. To do this, the floating solar still soaks up water from below and then uses the heat that is garnered from solar radiation to evaporate the purified water. The dome on top condenses the still and then water is collected.
