Condom brand Durex recently released a tweet on its global Twitter account that showcases a new upcoming flavored contraceptive inspired by the iOS eggplant emoji. The tweet showcased a photograph of the alleged condom packaging that highlighted an eggplant depicted on the box with the description, "eggplant flavored condoms." The new variety is rumored to be a hoax by the brand, that released the statement with the hashtag #CondomEmoji.

The eggplant iOS emoticon is often referenced as a phallic symbol, which is what spawned Durex drawing upon the emoji for a new flavor inspiration. The contraceptives are available in a package of 12 and contain a distinctive legume taste inspired by the vegetable. Since the release of the initial tweet, Durex has released another stating it was all a clever marketing rouse.
