Nintendo announced the upcoming 'Fire Emblem' title 'Fire Emblem Engage.' This is the first new iteration in the mainline series since 'Fire Emblem Three Houses,' which released in mid-2019. Fire Emblem Engage brings a new story that features a number of returning characters, though these characters are featured in unique ways.
Rather than centering around a Hero and the Hero's comrades, Fire Emblem Engage follows a prince who has been asleep for over 1,000 years that has suddenly woken up. This prince is the human form of a powerful dragon, who is then tasked with saving the kingdom from an evil dragon. The still-unnamed main character of the series augments their army by opening portals to other worlds and other dimensions and requesting the aid of the heroes of those worlds, which is where the returning characters from previous Fire Emblem iterations come into play.
Fire Emblem Engage will release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on January 20th, 2023. The game is available in digital, standard, and collectors editions.
