Look through the images from the ‘Fete Noir’ Cheek magazine editorial featuring model Simona McIntyre and I’m sure you’ll feel slightly disconcerted.
The gothic photography by Saad Al-Hakkak is amazing and the same can be said for the vintage-look gown, the ribbon-pleated shoulders—maybe even the oversized voodoo doll pendant. But once you get to the mud-like hat with the strange figurines and the massive platinum wig crafted with Barbie heads, your appreciation for high fashion starts to wane a bit (it’s just too alien-esque for my liking).
