At New York Fashion Week, Tom Ford showed off a vibrantly colored faux crocodile leather outfit in his Spring/Summer 2019 collection, spotlighting an entirely cruelty-free take on a coveted and controversial luxury material.
Over the last year, a great number of people have become receptive to the idea of switching to an entirely plant-based diet for health, environmental and ethical reasons. When Tom Ford himself made the transition to veganism, he reportedly found himself "very conscious" of the use of animal skins.
Like many other high-end brands, Tom Ford has also removed fur from his fashion collections, signalling a shift towards more ethical runways in the future. Some runways around the world are even going as far as to ban designers from showing fur and leather, which is having an impact in the world of cruelty-free fashion.
