Most fathers dread the day their little girls lose their virginity, then there are the fathers who actually take it to another level as this candid and strange father daughter photo series shows.
The 'Purity' series portrays a world that not most of us know anything about, one where Purity balls -- formal events where daughters pledge to stay virgins -- keep fathers and daughters bonded by a promise of purity.
This interesting new tradition or religious rite is a fairly new phenomena in American culture. Stockholm-based photographer David Magnusson was mesmerized by the tradition and chose to document this American rite in his father daughter photo series.
“The girls make a pledge to ‘remain pure and live pure lives before God,’ to stay sexually abstinent until marriage. Their fathers sign a commitment undertaking to protect their daughter’s purity,” says Magnusson about the project.
