Announced to coincide with the SIMA Agribusiness show in France, the John Deere Electric Tractor concept identifies how the brand can shift from diesel-powered technology to eco-friendly alternatives.
The tractor concept from John Deere is called the SESAM, which stands for Sustainable Energy Supply for Agricultural Machinery and features the diesel engines removed for an electric powertrain. Being that tractors are used during the day and then stored at night, it makes it an optimal time to charge the vehicle. With present testing, the John Deere Electric Tractor is capable of providing four hours of operation, which is impressive although not quite ready to be adopted mainstream. This new vehicle, however, identifies how brands are shifting towards more zero-emissions designs to help eliminate the need for diesel of gas-powered vehicles.
