Eco Electric Bicycles

In Austria, IKEA is Adding an Electric Bike to Its Catalog

IKEA is working towards some big goals for 2020 that include a focus on clean energy and growing more wood than it uses, but in the meantime IKEA is adding something new to its catalog—an electric bike.

The FOLKVÄNLIG electric bicycle is being introduced to two Austrian retail locations. The bike has a lightweight frame made from aluminum, available in two options designed for men and women. The bike will set you back about $1,000, but it promises to get you travel ranges up to about 37-45 miles.

As as proponent for sustainability, IKEA has introduced other earth-friendly products in the past like solar panels, as well as CFLs and LEDs lights in place of incandescent bulbs. Hopefully the electric bike will catch on and be sold in other locations too.
