With the recent political unrest in Cairo, Egypt’s Twitter by voicemail scheme is allowing those citizens affected but the government’s Internet shutdown to continue communicating through the social media website.
With help from Google, #Egypt tweets can now be broadcast with a simple dial of the phone and the dictation of a verbal message. Egypt’s Twitter by voicemail project gives the people back their voice, but unfortunately, only for those lucky enough the have a functional phone line in this time of turmoil.
