Lithuania-based designer Agne Kucerenkaite thinks outside of the box for the creation of her eco-friendly ceramic collection. Looking at sustainability principles, the creative sought out to utilize industrial metal waste in her practice. As a result, she creates a polished and rustic collection of eco-friendly ceramics that ethically handle resources. The project is appropriately dubbed 'Ignorance is Bliss' and it advocates for a circular economy.
According to statistics, "soil remediation companies generate around 30,200 tonnes of metal waste per year." As one can imagine, the ways of disposing of these excess materials in an ethical manner are limited. Agne Kucerenkaite turns the metal waste into functional dyes that can serve to decorate and bring a unique aesthetic to an eco-friendly ceramic line.
