The Eckling Planter by Michael Hilgers Fits Unused Balcony Railing Corners
References: michaelhilgers.de
The Eckling planter by Michael Hilgers is designed to occupy the often-ignored corner junctions of balcony railings. The Eckling planter features a hemispherical bowl with an L-shaped recess cut into its base, allowing it to sit securely where two railing segments meet. Rather than hanging along straight sections like traditional window boxes, the form rests directly on the corner structure without additional brackets or mounts.
The planter measures roughly 44 centimetres in diameter and holds about 16 litres of soil, offering significantly more planting capacity than typical railing pots. Made from recyclable polyethylene with thick walls, the container is designed to remain outdoors year-round and withstand frost exposure. Hidden cable ties beneath the bowl help stabilize the planter in windy conditions while allowing it to fit railing profiles up to 80 millimetres wide across round, flat, or rectangular metal rails.
