BMW's Dynamic Parking Prediction system aims to make it easy for you to find a parking spot in business areas. This system uses digital mapping and fleet data to predict the availability of vacant parking spots, helping you save time and stop you from pulling your hair out in frustration.
The system uses digital maps that reveal which streets offer street parking, while also using anonymous movement data from a test fleet of vehicles as they enter, leave and search for vacant parking spaces. A prediction algorithm is then used to predict parking space availability.
The Dynamic Parking Prediction system is currently in prototype stage and is being refined for use in production vehicles in the future. This system could go a long way in saving people the time and stress of finding a parking spot in the city.
