DuckDuckGo Made its Secure Email Service Available to the Public

DuckDuckGo, the company most known for its secure search engine and web browser, recently announced the official public availability of its Duck Email service. Previously the service was only open to users who signed up for the waitlist and were selected. Now, the service is in open beta, allowing all users to register for a duck.com email address.

The Duck Email service functions as an email protection service that non-intrusively scans and scrubs inbound emails. According to DuckDuckGo, during its open beta, it found that 85% of testers had trackers discovered in their emails, which would have previously gone undetected. The service is also transparent in what it finds, informing users of which email contained a tracker and what the dangers of each specific tracker are.
