Nissin's Donbei Kitsune Udon was the world's first-ever bowl-shaped instant noodle, launching in 1976. The brand's familiar comfort food is getting an upgrade with the launch of a premium version of their Donbei Kitsune Udon requiring an 8-minute cook time.
Traditional Donbei Kitsune Udon noodles typically take 5 minutes to cook, but this new release takes additional time due to the amount of "crunch" in the noddle. To create this crunch, Nissin is leveraging mochigome 糯米, a "type of particularly glutinous rice used in the making of mochi rice cakes, which has been blended into each noodle."
The novel offering from Nissin will appeal to "foodie" consumers looking to explore unique flavors and textures from the familiar brand.
