It's easy to fall back on traditional holiday beverages like eggnog and apple cider, but for a festive change this season this canelazo recipe is a delicious DIY beverage that will offer guests a glimpse into Ecuadorian culture. A traditional beverage enjoyed in the Andes Mountain range in Ecuador, canelazo is enjoyed either hot or cold and with or without rum to suit your preference.
Crafted using a mixture of cinnamon, cloves and lime, canelazo can be made fresh using pre-prepared ingredients. This particular recipe also incorporates naranjillazo into the DIY beverage, which is created using naranjilla fruit concentrate, grated panela and a touch of all spice.
When both recipes for canelazo and naranjillazo are combined, the finished product is a sip of culture straight from the South American mountain range that's sure to delight.
