Distorted Doll Faces

Vivienne Westwood's Spring Summer 2011 Show has Ghostly Makeup

Vivienne Westwood's paint-smeared beauties were complemented with air-brushed techniques. Distorted doll-faced details created a contemporary take on beauty, from exaggeratedly drawn-on lips to hand-drawn hearts and yellow blush and brow highlights.

Contrasting with the vibrant paint smears, frosted faces and exaggerated brows, the models resembled traditional geishas. Dramtic red lips gave a nod to conventional beauty trends, but of course Vivienne does it her own way (as always).

Implications - Consumers are often drawn to products that emanate unconventional or distorted qualities and features. Such products provide consumers with alternative experiences and perspectives. Businesses that can provide modern or contemporary twists to products will see large returns.
