People may be familiar with the Disney Magic Bands from visiting the theme park. Yet the studio behind the original design has decided to rethink the wearable tech to bring it into a more serious setting: the hospital. By repurposing the Disney Magic Bands, the institutions will be able to replace traditional ID bracelets for a system that is more intuitive, interactive and intelligent.
By wearing Disney Magic Bands, patients could gain access to secured areas by simply tapping their wrist to open doors. It will also provide nurses with on the spot information and medical records concerning the wearer. Another key component of the wearable tech would be a living map of health care. The technology will keep track of patients and doctors in real time allowing, for instance, staff to find a trauma surgeon instantly. The implementation of Disney Magic Bands would allow hospitals to become much more efficient.
