The best way to get your message across is to make sure it reaches as much of your target audience as possible. Other than toilet paper, eggs and milk, just about every household also has fruit. Disney decided that advertising on bananas could be a good tactic so they customized stickers to promote the new Jungle Book DVD.
But will this be effective? Was that the most appropriate fruit? Apple stickers, for instance, get stuck to table tops or on kids' binders once they're peeled off, "sticking around" a lot longer than the old banana peel. On the other hand, moms tend to wash apples before popping them in little Jessie's lunch box, so the sticker wouldn't even be seen by the target.
Maybe they really are onto something with the bananas...
