Windstar Gives Guests Private Access to European Landmarks

After-hours cruise experiences are giving travelers more exclusive ways to explore major cultural landmarks beyond traditional daytime excursions. Windstar Cruises is expanding its complimentary Destination Discovery Events in 2027 with new experiences in Livorno, Dubrovnik and London. Guests can attend a wine tasting inside Livorno’s 16th-century Fortezza Vecchia, experience Croatian music across historic Dubrovnik venues and access the Tower of London after closing for a private Crown Jewels viewing. The program will expand to seven events across 165 sailings and all eight Windstar yachts.

The expanded program gives Windstar a distinctive way to compete in premium cruising by making exclusive destination access part of the voyage itself. Complimentary cultural experiences can increase the perceived value of bookings while reinforcing the advantages of small-ship travel. Pairing these events with the new Star Explorer can also help attract travelers seeking intimate, experience-focused European itineraries.

After-hours Cultural Access
Private landmark visits outside public operating hours create premium travel value through scarcity, intimacy and reduced crowd friction.
Complimentary Destination Programming
Bundled cultural events can reshape cruise differentiation by turning shore excursions into embedded brand experiences rather than optional add-ons.
Small-ship Experiential Cruising
Intimate vessels are well positioned to offer curated, venue-specific access that larger operators may struggle to replicate at scale.

Sectors Adopting This

Cruise Travel
Premium cruise operators can use exclusive destination partnerships to elevate itineraries and compete on access instead of amenities alone.
Cultural Tourism
Museums, fortresses and heritage landmarks gain new revenue and audience channels by extending programming into private evening formats.
Luxury Hospitality
High-end travel brands can strengthen perceived exclusivity by combining accommodation, transportation and rare cultural access into seamless packages.
