If you expect art to catch you off guard with something completely out of the blue, then you should acclimate yourself with the works of David Zink Yi. A staple in galleries worldwide, Yi’s a master of presenting audiences with ideas that deviate from the norm. For instance, his latest show features a lifelike squid sculpture plastered in the middle of the room amid a small puddle of water. Audiences are literally shocked as they enter the space and encounter the dead tentacle creature that has no reason to be where it is.
Also part of David Zink Yi’s latest gallery show are three large photographs. Aside from sculpting and photography, Yi’s fluent in video making as well. Yi currently works and lives out of Berlin.
