Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), Filmtec, and ExxonMobil Signature Polymers collaborated on a 17µm nano cast stretch film designed to reduce plastic use in industrial packaging. The solution replaces HCCB’s conventional 23µm film, reducing thickness by 26% while maintaining containment force, puncture resistance, and wrapping consistency. Filmtec’s nano cast technology can produce films with up to 55 layers, while ExxonMobil’s Exceed resins support the film’s mechanical performance.
The thinner film achieved a stretch ratio above 300%, compared with 200% for the previous film, and reduced material consumption per pallet by an estimated 40%. It also increased pallets wrapped per roll from 32 to 53. For HCCB, this can reduce plastic consumption, roll changes, inventory requirements, and associated packaging costs while maintaining transportation performance.
