Shared Smart Trackers

Samsung Makes Its Smart Tracker Smaller And More Useful Across Phones

Samsung is expanding its smart-tracking range with the Galaxy SmartTag 3, a smaller tracker designed to help people keep tabs on luggage, pets and other belongings. The puck-shaped device is around a third smaller and lighter than the previous version and can be used across both Android and Apple phones, making it more practical for households with different devices.

Place Notification lets users create a boundary around a location and receive an alert when the tag moves beyond it, reducing the need to repeatedly check its location manually. The battery is rated for up to 550 days, or 790 days in power-saving mode, while location changes can also be used to trigger connected smart-home routines such as turning on lights.

The combination of cross-platform support, longer battery life and automated alerts gives the tracker a broader role beyond simply finding misplaced items. It also makes shared tracking more straightforward when members of the same household use different types of smartphones.
