How would you design a corkscrew as a portrait of yourself? Alessandro Mendini, designer extraordinaire, answered that question for himself with the “sun dream†corkscrew design.
This is a conversation-friendly corkscrew—it will attract attention on any tablescape. Alessandro chose the clouds to represent dreams, and proceeds from the corkscrew will go to help orphanages. The design, though Mendini doesn't mention it, is reminiscent of Magritte's Son of Man painting, also pictured. Not a bad place to get your inspiration.
Implications - The white clouds covering Mendini's Alessandro M portrait represent the freedom associated with dreams. The charitable project will devote all sale proceeds of the hand-made, exclusive corkscrews in the portrait to the realization of dreams of orphaned children living in both Brazil and Mongolia.
