Design startup Cord Blue has launched a Kickstarter campaign centered around household cord management, redesigning standard outlets and USB charging ports as minimal design objects.
Ordinarily, extension cords and power strips form an ugly mess that lurks behind couches and under tables. We have so many electronic devices these days that cord management can become a real problem. Cord Blue is designing stand-alone furniture pieces that move the most essential charging ports--for our phones and laptops--out into the open. And these cord management devices are beautiful objects, that accentuate a designed home.
The Cord Blue team's interest in cord management started by investigating patterns of plugging and unplugging electronic devices. They decided that these devices, which are such centerpieces of a modern lifestyle, needed better solutions that are always accessible and complimentary to a modern design aesthetic.
As a take on device charging and cord management, Cord Blue is a unique perspective. Wireless charging has been gaining traction recently, but Cord Blue shifts outlets and charging into the realm of luxury and style.
