Natural Rock-Imitating Extension Cords

Willen Van Hooff and Pedestal Design the Power Gems

Designer Willen van Hooff works together with Danish desgin brand Pedestal to create Power Gems, which are extension cords designed to look like natural rock formations. It comes in the option of either a three or six-way power strip nestled into the structure, looking like it is emerging from something of nature.

The ceramic bodies have a heavy look and feel to it, designed as an art statement, taking up space rather than the opposite. van Hooff explains, "Plugs are like altars now – same with the wi-fi router. These are some of the most important things in our homes today. But we still try to hide them, under the couch or stuffed away in corners. That made me want to redesign them."
