The Console Mobius is a stunning piece of furniture that has a sinuously sculptural form. As its name gives away, this twisting form is inspired by the Mobius strip, which is a surface with only one side and only one boundary component. What makes the Console Mobius particularly impressive is the fact that it is made out of wood.
Designed by Pierre Renard, an Ecole Boulle graduate based in Montreuil, France, the Console Mobius may look flexible, but since it is made out of a relatively rigid material, it is more static than one would at first think. Interestingly, the rosewood veneer covers a carbon fiber core. More of a work of art than a piece of furniture, the Console Mobius could be displayed in galleries.
