Orly's 'Shade Shifter' color-changing nail polish works just like a mood ring, and changes hues with your body's temperature. The new Gel FX coat works can be applied over any Orly Gel FX nail polish color to create this effect. The topcoat goes on quite dark but as the body cools, it becomes translucent and reveals the colored gel layer underneath. As Orly describes, it's "clear when you're hot, dark when you're not."

Although it works similarly to a mood ring, it does not display a spectrum of colors. As well, the change in color is not always immediate or solid; as the transformation happens, the colors will gradually fade into one another. The summer is the perfect time to try out this manicure, giving you a change in nail color for sunbathing and a dip in the water.
