Whimsical Collectable Chairs

READYMADE and Futura Introduce a Chair Made with Bottle Caps

A new collectible chair, inspired by Pierre Jeanneret‘s Chandigarh chair, has debuted through a collaboration between Yuta Hosokawa's READYMADE imprint and Futura Laboratories. Aside from an interesting aesthetic that evokes DIY-like sensibilities, the material from which the piece is made from is of importance here.

When designing the playful collectible chair, READYMADE and Futura Laboratories used plastic bottle caps as the main material. The process of manufacturing included melting said plastic bottle caps "using Binchotan charcoal to reduce toxic fumes." The collaborators also introduced a nice material juxtaposition by employing handwoven rattan to the seat and backseat.

The chic and chromatic collectible chairs were sold exclusively at NTWRK‘s TRANSFER festival. All proceeds of the READYMADE x Futura Laboratories chairs were donated to Doctors Without Borders.
