The CLEAR Claw Machine Works Almost Like a Kinect Console

The CLEAR Claw Machine is not a person's typical carnival game. Instead of using an arcade control pad, the claw has been outfitted with sensors in order to respond to people's gestures. A simple tweak with fun results, kids will think they have developed magic powers or channeled The Force. Granted, the CLEAR Claw Machine wasn't made with children in mind. Instead, it targets women.

Created by Clear South Africa, digital marketing company Cow Africa and interaction designer Wesley Swanepoel of wezside, the CLEAR Claw Machine makes use of ASUS Xtion Pro Live, a camera that works something like Kinect. Players can win items like vouchers and shampoo samples. It was installed at the Oppikoppi festival.
